Course Description
Dentists are Major Influencers of the Human Body and Total Human Movement!
There is a direct relationship between the body and the teeth. Some dentists appreciate this connection, but haven’t been properly trained to understand the details of the body-occlusal relationship and how this knowledge can benefit their patients.
The literature illuminates not only that cranial bones move and that cranial strain patterns exist, but that these patterns can be a key part of why both bites and bodies become dysfunctional.
The position of the body can affect the contacting surfaces of the teeth. In turn, occlusal contact can direct the position of the body. Appropriate changes to occlusion can positively affect body patterns by unlocking a restricted cranial strain that may be limiting normal functional mobility of the bite and the body.
Movement specialists and dentists desperately need one another to successfully manage an array of issues to include TMD, malocclusion, headaches, as well as airway, airflow and systemic, body pain issues.
This two-and-a-half day lecture and hands-on lab workshop is designed to provide the
clinical foundation for successful partnering between body-minded dentists and dental-minded body specialists.
Didactic information will cover the psychomotor skills associated with the evaluative process and the rationale behind each diagnostic test. Time will be spent with sample patients on the exam table and in the dental chair to augment the learning process so that each participant can feel confident as they master this exciting material.
By the end of the workshop you will be able to use CBCT and bite scans in conjunction with hands-on clinical testing to assist you in accomplishing your patient goals of treatment. Oral appliance prescription and application will be an integral part of the learning process throughout the workshop.
You are about to embark on a journey that will forever change the way you look at the power you possess as a dentist!
Welcome to a world of in-depth and heretofore little-understood knowledge. Knowledge that takes the student beyond basic theory and guides multiple disciplines into actual integrative clinical APPLICATION.
