About

James Anderson, MPT, AIA Fellow is a partner founder of Applied Integration Academy (AIA®), professional movement and performance consultant, physical therapist, and educator with over 25 years of experience working directly with all types of sports performance, rehabilitation, and fitness professionals both nationally and internationally. His areas of expertise include Respiration, Neurology, and Biomechanics with special emphasis on Sports Performance, Spine Rehab, and difficult Chronic Pain cases, including geriatric patients in the home setting. He has provided expert consultation, physical therapy, and education in both amateur and professional settings across all parts of the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia. His work integrating respiration and neurology includes regular collaboration with professionals in dentistry, podiatry, and optometry.

After completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Nevada Las Vegas where he majored in Kinesiology, James received his Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha in 1998. He maintains his membership with the American Physical Therapy Association.

Following his graduate education, James was part of the first class to complete the 3- year post-graduate certification PRC® in 2004 from the Postural Restoration Institute® (PRI®). This led to his serving from 2000 until 2020 as a faculty member and course instructor. From 2012 to 2020, he specifically served as the Director of PRI® Affiliate Programs, which included developing the following programs: PRI® Integration for the Home, PRI® Integration for Yoga, PRI® Integration for Baseball, and PRI® Integration for Fitness and Movement courses. In this capacity, he collaborated with experts from various disciplines to author or coauthor several of the PRI® courses for professionals and affiliates.

Additionally, James was a partner founder and lead performance consultant with Applied Integration Consulting (AIC®). During his time with AIC®, he served on the Advisory Board of Biomechanic Consultants with the Xplosive Edge, and the Clinical Programs Specialist for Applegate HomeCare and Hospice in St. George. He consulted with numerous physical therapists, such as Connected Physical Therapy with a dozen of their most challenging cases with stellar results, to a wide variety of professional and collegiate athletic organizations, including MLB, PGA, PGA European Tour, PGA Champions Tour, NFL, NBA, WNBA, NHL, MLS, English Premier League, UFC, The US Department of Defense and NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Athletics in the Big 10, Pac 12, SEC, ACC and Big 12 Conferences. This work in professional sports includes serving as the Performance Director for Team DGF, a performance and training group that provides expert physical therapy, strength & conditioning, and golf fitness training for US and International PGA Tour Pros. He worked directly with 3 of the top 30 international golfers, addressing their compensatory rotational patterns, including a top-3 finisher of the 2021 British Open.

From all of this extensive experience, James left PRI® and advanced AIC® to continue to investigate and advance the science of human movement through the partner founding of the Applied Integration Academy (AIA®). The exponential growth that has been seen in understanding physical and movement science, and as it continues to advance, has led to the creation of the current AIA® program of courses.

In addition to traveling for on-site work as a consultant for AIA®, James sees private clients under the following entities:

  • James Anderson Physical Therapy Consulting is James’ solo practice in St. George, Utah where he is set up to see clients from in and around Southern Utah, as well as people traveling in to be seen or mentored by James.

  • Private consultation sessions for members of Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club at the Snow Canyon Spa and Fitness Center by appointment.

  • A joint effort with Alice Lam, DDS, Heidi Wise, OD (AIA Vision®), and Mike Cantrell, MPT located in Houston, Texas where the union of dentistry-based occlusal management, vision, and postural therapy continues to be honed through patient care at the founding AIA® Inspero Center.

Heidi Wise founded PRI® Vision with Ron Hruska, MPA, PT, and taught for over 10 years with him. She has shared her expertise as the founder of AIA Vision®.
